Laurie Knoll was nominated in 2009 by her peers at LaPerle Elementary School for the prestigious Child Care Professional Award of Excellence. The nominations were sent to Children and Youth Services where a committee selected the winners. Laurie was selected from across Alberta in the Urban Preschool category and was presented the award at a wonderful gala, by the Minister of Children and Youth Services.
La Perle Community Playschool is located in the La Perle Elementary school at the South East Entrance. La Perle Community Playschool provides a ‘learn through play’ program for three and four year old children. As a non profit, parent operated cooperative, the playschool depends on a partnership between parents, teachers, and the executive, to work effectively as a team to provide the children of La Perle and neighboring communities with an enriched playschool experience. Parents are required to help in the class two days per month. This gives parents a unique opportunity to experience what your child does at playschool.
