La Perle Community Playschool
2017-2018 Board Members
Hi my name is Michelle Bottriell and this is my second year as the Registrar for La Perle Community Playschool. I am a stay at home mom to two wonderful little boys, who both attend the Playschool. Mrs. Wong and Mrs. Knoll are awesome teachers. I am constantly blown away by all the creative crafts, learning activities and overall happy environment that they bring to the classroom. What I enjoy most is how involved parents get to be with their child's Playschool experience by volunteering in class and seeing first hand what happens inside the classroom. I am looking forward to another year on the board, please feel free to contact me anytime with any questions or concerns at firstname.lastname@example.org
My name is Behjan Gregory. I am a full time working proud mom of 2. My daughter is going to be in grade 2 this year at La Perle and my son will be in the 4yr morning class with Mrs. Knoll.
My daughter attended the 4 yr program and it truly was the best decision we made. She was so shy and quiet and Mrs. Knoll helped her grow and come out of her shell.
My son absolutely adored Mrs. Wong last year and had a great time in the 3yr program.
This is my first year on the board and I am looking forward to being part of such a hard working group and meeting all the parents.
Thank you for choosing La Perle Community Playschool, where children experience ďThe Stepping Stones of Early Learning.Ē My name is Amanda Percy and I am delighted to take on the role of President for the 2017-2018 school year. This is my second year as President, and my third year serving on the Board. I am a stay-at-home Mom to 4 children: Benjamin (age 6), William (age 5), Isabella (age 2), and Oliver (recently welcomed into our family on July 19th!). Two of my children have been enriched with their educational experiences at the Playschool, and now they both attend La Perle Elementary. Thanks to Mrs. Wong and Mrs. Knoll, my sons have gained valuable skills as confident and capable learners, classmates, and friends. Even though I donít have any of my children enrolled in the Playschool this year, Isabella thinks sheís a student! The Playschool is family-focused, so she already feels comfortable, accepted, and has an endearing relationship with our Playschoolís teachers. I can hardly wait to enroll her in Mrs. Wongís class when she turns 3 next year!
Iím grateful that La Perle Playschool is a Parent Cooperative because our families work in partnership with our childrenís teachers. What a gift to be involved in our childrenís education! As an Early Childhood Educator and teacher with Edmonton Public School Board, my experiences taught me that a wholistic approach to teaching and learning gives the most benefit to the student. Itís so valuable to have a childís first experiences at school be positive, and I appreciate that La Perle Playschool has done this for our family!
The students, their families, the teachers, and the Executive Board all work collaboratively to provide a successful experience at our Playschool. Together, we can make the 2017-2018 school year a fantastic one! Iím looking forward to taking this journey with you over the next year; please be in contact with me to share concerns, ask questions, and celebrate successes about your child! My email address is: email@example.com
Hello! My name is Michelle Albert and this is my first year as Vice-President on the board. We are also new to the play school, but have heard nothing but excellent things of the program. My son Parker will be in the 3 year program this year and my baby, Charlie, will hopefully be starting in a couple of years!. I am looking forward to meeting all of the families and working together with the board to have an amazing year together! Please feel free to chat with me about anything. Wishing you all a great year!
Hi! My name is Jennifer McCallum and Iíll be the LaPerle Playschool Secretary this year. After a rewarding career as an Environmental Scientist, Iím currently a stay at home Mom with two kids. My daughter went through the 3 and 4 year old Playschool programs at LaPerle and LOVED it. We were so impressed by what she learned and how much she grew, that I was sold on the value of this Playschool. My son is starting the 3 year old Playschool program this year and can hardly wait to get his hands on all the superhero toys! The kids grow so quickly, that, although I want to spend as much time as I can with them, I know they need opportunities to grow socially (with peers and in a classroom setting), and I found this a very supportive place to start. I love that I have the opportunity at this Playschool to see how my kids learn from someone else, watch them interact in different settings/respond to different topical activities (crafts, parties, field trips, mascot visits, etc.), and meet the friends that they love to talk about. The teachers are both highly experienced and very approachable with any questions. Iím also grateful that so many of the board members have remained on, even though they no longer have children in the program - itís honestly a fantastic place to be and I know everything will run smoothly this year in such good hands.
Hi, My name is Gwen Hall. Iím a stay at home mom to three amazing daughters! Avery (age 3), Brooklyn (age 8), and Jordanna (age 10). This is my first year on the board as Fundraising Coordinator. But my two oldest daughters who now attend LaPerle Elementary both went through the 3 & 4-year playschool programs. Avery will be in Mrs.Wongís class this year and I am SO thrilled to be back with this wonderful playschool!!
I cannot express enough the impact the program has had on my oldest two daughters. I truly believe it to be such an asset and steppingstone for Kindergarten. It has allowed them to learn, grow, and experience hands on while learning through crafts, music, play, discussion, gym time, occupational visitors, field tripsÖand much more! I am so excited now for my youngest to also have this experience as well as to socialize and engage with others her age!! I absolutely love the parent co-operative factor and being able to help and assist in the classroom and be a part of my childís early education.
Mrs. Wong & Mrs. Knoll are extraordinary - from their compassion to their expertise! The lifelong friendships we have made with the both of them, and with other families that we have come to know are immeasurable!!
I made the decision some years back to take early retirement and get involved in the community doing volunteer work. One volunteer opportunity came up in the fall of 2009 to take on the role of treasurer for the La Perle Community Playschool. My oldest grandson was in Mrs. Knolls 4-year class at the time. My youngest grandson is three years younger than his brother and attended the program as well. I was amazed how well the program helped them mature not only with all the early learning but also the social skills they developed giving them a head start as they entered kindergarten and then primary school. Over the years, my role has expanded to other duties beyond that of a treasurer. I truly cherish the opportunity be part of Playschool Board. The highlight of the year for me has always been the ďSpring TeaĒ, watching the children up on stage singing their hearts out.
Hi my name is Candace Campbell, I am a mom to my 2 beautiful daughters, Peyton(9) and Hailey(6), and currently in the process of completing my Educational Assistant certificate. Both of my daughter's have went through the 3yr and 4yr programs at La Perle Playschool and have enjoyed every minute. This will be my 4th year on the board and although my daughter's are now in grade 1 and grade 4, I have enjoyed working with a great board and love the school so much that I decided to stay. La Perle playschool has such a great atmosphere and learning environment. Mrs.Knoll and Mrs. Wong are such amazing teachers and love what they do. To me, La Perle playschool has had such an impact on my girls and me. It has made our preschool experience a memorable one.
Please feel free to contact me anytime. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org if you have any questions or concerns.
My name is Lindsay Cole and I am part of the Spring Tea Coordinators team. I have 2 children who have both completed the Playschool program and moved on to elementary school. My children loved going to Playschool and they both benefited from it immensely. This is my third year as a board member, and my first year being part of the Spring Tea team. Serving on the board has given me the opportunity to give back to the Playschool, and help ensure it continues to be a successful program.
If you have any questions or concerns about the Spring Tea Fundraiser, please feel free to email me at email@example.com
Hello! My name is Melissa, I am a full-time working mother of two and also serve on the La Perle Community Playschool Board as part of the Spring Tea Co-Ordinator Team. My daughter is in Grade 2 and my son is in kindergarten at La Perle Elementary school. This year, the Spring Tea is being tackled by a crew and I? couldnít more thrilled to be working side by side with Lindsay and Candice to help make this the best Spring Tea ever!
